One of the main objectives of the University, and particularly of this School, is to develop both basic and applied scientific and technological research. The School of Aeronautical and Space Engineering [Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería Aeronáutica y del Espacio, ETSIAE] is the veteran School delivering aerospace and research education, it develops its research activity on the basis of academic excellence criteria.
The research is conducted in areas related to the aerospace sector, and it is carried out within the School departments, research groups, Ignacio Da Riva Microgravity Institute (IDR) and the Spanish User Support and Operations Centre (E-USOC) on behalf of the European Space Agency.
The research is fully carried out at the School, adding value to teaching activities and also to the students' involvement in the Doctoral Programme. At the School facilities, students and teaching staff develop their research activity together with the rest of the teaching activities.
National and international partnerships in the research field are customary within both the aerospace industry and other internationally significant universities.
